Daniel Delgado has served as minister of music for over 35 years and currently is the Director of Music at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula, CA, and music minister at Padre Serra Parish in Camarillo, CA.
Since his teens, Daniel has worked in several parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a director, singer, cantor, composer, arranger, guitarist / accompanist, sound engineer, and clinician. He is known for his exemplary guitar work in playing at the highest level in high profile venues; ordinations of bishops & priests at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels & for then-vice President, now PRESIDENT Joe Biden and Governor, Arnold Schwarznegger in 2009.
At age 16, Daniel received his formal musical training while studying piano, composition, and theory. He started his formal classical guitar training shortly thereafter. Because he received multiple scholarships from the revered San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he attended the conservatory from 1994 to 1999. He has been fortunate to study under acclaimed masters Dusan Bogdonavic, composer and guitarist, David Tanenbaum, and Matthew Nathan Greif, acclaimed guitarist and current member of the L.A. Guitar Quartet.
From 2001 to 2017, Mr. Delgado has been music director for the Santa Barbara Regional Congress and, during his tenure, has been noted for his composition of several of the theme songs and psalm settings for this event. Daniel has also been given the honor (working under director John Flaherty) of serving as the house guitarist for the Anaheim Religious Education Congress from 2003 to the present time. There he provides music for masses, workshops, concerts, and the weekend’s various events, and he works alongside composers and ministers of all genres.
Since 2002, Daniel’s talents have been consistently called upon while serving on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office for Worship’s various music committees. While being noted as the youngest member on these committees for many years, Daniel has worked closely with many of the archdiocese’s most esteemed and prolific members. He takes pride in being part of the Music Committee of the Liturgical Commission. The committee helped in bringing the “Sing to the Lord, Music in Divine Worship,” workshop to liturgical ministers of the L.A. Archdiocese; this is a workshop aided in the training and preparation for the 2011 implementation of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (G.I.R.M.).
Daniel’s love for scripture, liturgy, and music ministry has blossomed into a successful composing and recording career. He is a prolific composer with over 50 psalm settings, hymns, theme songs, and mass settings; he has received praise for his Christmas orchestral arrangements and for his interpretation of the music for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Daniel’s award for the 2004 Sing A New Song Contest shows a bright future awaits!
Daniel's recording credits include:
Mass of Reconcilation/Misa de Reconciliación, Marty Haugen (GIA)
